A budget-cutting governor appears at a core disability organization fundraiser. The community erupts.
We speak with Berkeley’s Center for Independent Living (CIL) executive director, Yomi Wrong about the current controversy over the appearance of Governor Jerry Brown at the organization’s fortieth anniversary gala.
Despite Brown’s early support of disability rights in his first go around as governor, disability activists (like those from Communities United in Defense of Olmstead – CUIDO) are down on him for the way he is conducting himself this go around. And they do not like it that CIL has showcased him for this fundraiser.Â
CIL board member Jed Appleman and Zona Roberts, mother of Ed Roberts, will also be interviewed.
Hosted by Eddie Ytuarte.
